my name is hana kobayashi.

i’m an independent photographer and stylist from Hawaii, currently based in Tokyo.

i hold a BBA in the Business of Fashion, with a merchandising and design background.

i’ve always loved to preserve moments of people and places in dreamlike states reflective of the precious in-betweens that are felt before they are seen. 

—longing, melancholia, nostalgia, and the ocean are my biggest inspirations.

i combine experimental techniques with editorial and cinematic direction.

i hope my work captures a sense of familiarity, whether it’s reminiscent of a memory/dream you’ve seen before, or just an unexplainable sense of comfort.
